RONALD “BOB” MORSE
Ronald “Bob” Morse’s lifelong fascination with windmills and windpumps began in Sussex, where, as a seven-year-old engineering enthusiast, he received a writing pad adorned with a windmill. This childhood gift sparked a passion for preservation and restoration, igniting an interest in the rich history of these iconic structures.
In 1947, amidst a period where many older windmills were being demolished, Morse acquired the derelict white tower mill at Thurne, Norfolk. This act of preservation saved a piece of history, as Thurne Mill is now a celebrated landmark, frequently photographed and featured in various media.
